Photocopying & Printing & Scan & Deliver
Photocopying and printing facilities are available in the library for members.
Please note:
- The librarian may refuse to photocopy a material which in his opinion, is in a fragile condition, or if photocopying cannot be done without damaging the book.
- To avoid violation of the Copyright Law, only 10% of the book may be photocopied.
- The same rates are applicable for both printing and photocopying services. The current rates are:
A4 size (Photocopying) – 75 paisa per exposure (One side)
A4 size (Printing) – Rs. 1.50 per page. (One side)
Scan & Deliver: is a free document delivery service exclusively for the NLSIU faculty members. Based on an email request, we provide scanned copies of materials (chapter/article/case etc.,). Due to copyright issues, this service is restricted to only 1 or 2 chapters, 1 or 2 articles, 1 or 2 cases, or content that doesn’t exceed 50 pages.
Note: Users are requested to mention the purpose for which they need the scanned material while opting for this service.

Databases – IP-Based Access (Available Within NLS Campus Only)
Hein Online is online research database with more than 100 million pages of legal history available in an online fully-searchable, image-based format. Hein Online bridges the gap in legal history by providing comprehensive coverage from inception of more than 2000 law and law related. Hein Online provides exact replica of page images of the documents in PDF format just as they appear in the original print.
KluwerArbitration.com is the online resources for international arbitration research. It contains commentary from expert authors and an extensive collection of primary source materials including Conventions, Jurisdiction based information, Legislation, New York Convention Decisions, Rules and Chinese Court Decision Summaries on Arbitration. It also provides Books, Journals and News related to international arbitration. Database is accessible within the IP Ranges.
Lexis Advance is an International database of LexisNexis for facilitating India and International Legal Information. Lexis Advance Provides Case Laws of Supreme Court of India and High Courts of respective states, Central Governmental Legislation, more than 200 Indian Legal commentaries on various law disciplines, Forms and precedents, Indian Journals including Journal of Indian Law Institute and Legal Dictionaries. Halsbury’s Laws of India & England is also accessible through Lexis India. Access to Indian Legal Content and International Legal Content under the same Platform.
SCC Online is a product of Eastern Book Company primarily providing Supreme Court of India Cases publishing in SCC Weekly. SCC Online is known as most authentic source for SC Judgments due to its case notes and effective search. Other than cases, SCC Online coverage includes Articles published in SCC and Practical Lawyers, Central and few coverage of States Legislation, Law Commission of India Reports and Selective Judgement of High Courts of Indian States. WESTLAW – ASIA & WEST LAW – CLASSIC
Westlaw Asia is one of the primary online legal research services for lawyers and legal professionals. In addition, it provides proprietary database services. Information resources on Westlaw include more than 40,000 databases of case law, state and federal statutes, administrative codes, newspaper and magazine articles, public records, law journals, law reviews, treatises, legal forms and other information resources of India, Australia, Canada, United Kingdom and United States and European Union. It is IP Based databases and accessible within the secured IP Ranges. Westlaw Collection includes 1600+ Academic Journals; Legislation of Australia, Canada, European Union; United Kingdom & United States of America.

Statista is a German online platform that specializes in data gathering and visualization. In addition to publicly available third-party data, Statista also provides exclusive data via the platform, which is collected through its team’s surveys and analysis
Manupatra is a comprehensive online legal and business policy database. It contains judgments of Supreme Court of India, High Courts of Indian States, Tribunals, Commissions and Commission and Committee Reports, Gazette Notifications, Circulars, Bare Acts, Rules and Regulation, Ordinance and Pending Cases and Legal material on subject based research. It provides comprehensive search techniques including Manu Search, Legal Search, Citation Search and Act Search.
JSTOR
JSTOR is a digital library of academic journals, books, and primary sources founded in 1994. Originally containing digitized back issues of academic journals, it now encompasses books and other primary sources as well as current issues of journals in the humanities and social sciences. It provides full-text searches of almost 2,000 journals. Most access is by subscription but some of the site is public domain, and open access content is available free of charge. JSTOR is part of the non-profit US academic digital library and learning platform provider, Ithaka Harbors, Inc.

Referral Service
At times, users may need additional or more in-depth information other than what may be provided by the library or the team. In such cases, we suggest external sources or experts that can help address their queries or questions.

Technical Support
With the help of NLSIU IT support staff, we offer technical support in solving issues related to computing, access to wireless network, Remote Access, email accounts, printing, lab and workstation computers, software installation and support, exam software support, basic virus and malware removal. We also provide basic troubleshooting advice for any system or technology related issues.

Research Assistance
During the library orientation programme at the start of every trimester, we guide new students on searching library material – cases, articles, legislations, etc. This involves a guided tour of the Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC), and the subscribed online databases for aiding their research activities. We also provide database training and offer research advice for NLSIU research staff. Besides familiarising new students to all library resources and services, we also plan to provide a demonstration of electronic resources and services available to students.
